This unique ride was manufactured in 1948 by Eyerly Aircraft Company.
The ride was originally designed to train pilots. Our ride came over in 1951 for the Festival of Britain in Battersea, Kersal Park, Billy Peters, Walter Coneley and then us.
When the ride was in ownership of the Peters it became close a few times to being scrapped like many in the past in America.
Another interesting fact about this ride is in the space of a few days whilst being closed on a bit of ground, grinders, welders the lot was out, and it was trailer mounted.
The purchase from Walter Coneley in the early 80's by family member Ted Free, would prove that the legacy of the Fly-O-Plane would continue.
Unfortunately the ride was laid up in the yard for around 10 years, At the turn of the millennium Lee undertook projects, reupholstering the cars, new wire bonds, driveshaft, gates, top sign, rounding boards, entrances and a total redecoration.
2002 was the year that it would make its long awaited return, it has travelled every year since.
